Sentinel Hub Upgrade Scheduled for Later in October - The Hub upgrade scheduled for later in October is an extremely important upgrade and includes: - Upgrading the Sentinel Hub to the newest version of the Cosmos SDK - Enforcing minimum dVPN node pricing - Adding CosmWasm smart contract capabilities on the Hub - Long term staking contracts incentivizing users to receive a higher inflation rewards in exchange for longer term minimum staking periods Minimum dVPN Node Pricing - The 'Minimum dVPN Node Pricing' update will ensure the economic feasibility for dVPN node hosts to provide services. This minimum pricing standard will be determined through governance proposals and will be voted on by the community. Reinstatement of Node Reward Structure - The patience of the node host community is extremely appreciated in these times as a proper solution for incentivization that cannot be gamed is worked towards. Since the temporary suspension of the program a considerable number of nodes that were abusing the system have been taken offline. Along with the reinstatement of the program as well as the addition of the minimum node pricing, the economics for node hosts will become much more robust as compared to the earnings in the recent times.

Hi everyone, Latest SOLAR Labs update might have a bug which might result in application being unstable. Our team currently investigating that issue and will get back with the updates shortly.

An update on the current proposal: testing of the latest CosmWasm version with the test-net chain has just finished. While this waiting period is happening the code for all the technical upgrades is being finalized and tested. While this was ongoing, we decided to modify the proposal to accommodate some of the feedback we got from the community and validators: — Another vesting period was added after the staking contract lock period, meaning that the tokens are unlocked linearly after the lock period ends. -6 months linear unlock -12 months linear unlock -18 months linear unlock We modified the 3 staking contracts: - 1.25 years lock duration plus 6 months vesting for 1.06x the DVPN tokens - 2.5 years lock duration plus 12 months vesting for 1.12x the DVPN tokens - 5 years lock duration plus 18 months vesting for 1.18x the DVPN tokens Given the longer timeline also the DVPN amount was increased, we think the community is right when pointing out that the vesting contract unlocks would be pivotal events if done all at once, and we dont wanna bring any uncertainty to sentinel. — Feedback from multiple validators was also received, while everybody agrees on the initial drop in inflation it was pointed out that the inflation decrease of NEXT year, is too big and sudden (dropping by 50% validators profitability) so we decided to have the next drop be of 6%. So just to reiterate: If this proposal passes inflation will drop by 12% to 25% as planned. in November 23 (roughly in 12 months) inflation will then drop to 19% and 6 months later it would drop further to 13%. Now the proposal is finalized, we will wait 3 more days for feedback on this latest changes and then post in on chain.

Hey guys, ill clear up some of the misunderstanding around the proposal, the commonwealth will also get updated. The window for the chain to be updated is as soon as the code is ready and the proposals have passed on chain, so a minimum of 28 days (very high chance its more) either way we are not in a rush, so keep this in mind in your expectations on timeline. After the proposal nodes will be paying a tribute on their usage to stakers, the initial tribute will be extremely low % wise, but governance will be able to set it higher, later on. The tribute will not be upfront, but based on user consumption of the node bandwidth. The new inflation drop will be 12% even in november 2023. So inflation will drop to 25% when the chain is updated and later on to 13% in november 2023. Staking contracts are a one time thing, only available during this upgrade, there will be multiple governance proposals on chain, and by voting on those proposals you will be able to lock your tokens. The rate for 100 DVPN is as follow: 105 DVPN total 1.25 yrs 110 DVPN total 2.50 yrs 115 DVPN total 5 yrs So just to repeat someone locking 100 DVPN in the 5 years option would be getting an additional 15 DVPN tokens. The balances are updated upfront and can be compounded even if locked. We were approached by people interested on building DVPN specific applications on top of the cosmWASM that would be getting added with this proposal, the goal is to make sentinel a privacy hub centered around dvpn applications, one of this possible applications is in the very early stages and its being evaluated for funding. The whole DVPN infrastructure can benefit enormously from various tooling and incentive mechanisms built by third parties.

This level of participation from the community allows for the overall dVPN ecosystem to handle even more daily active users as the network scales up. The Sentinel ecosystem is creating a real economy where users are paying for services that are being provided. Network Metrics - Active session count and data consumption metrics are still extremely strong and commendable for a paid blockchain based dApp that can serve real utility to the mainstream user. These metrics have not crossed ATH in recent times as aggressive white-labelling and paid marketing campaigns have not yet begun but are still on a strong up-trend (if some potentially anomalous data from usage in June is omitted). A response to Proposal 10 relayed to community The team supports a tokeconomic upgrade related to a decrease in inflation. Sentinel's current inflation reduction scheduled is structured to be a reduction of 6% every 6 months, with the next date of inflation reduction being on September 27th 2022. On this date the inflation rate will be reduced from 37% to 31%. The team supports the initiative for the inflation rate schedule to be amended, and believes that it would be important for the community to provide its feedback and insights which are required for a more thorough proposal can be made in a more holistic manner. The individual/individuals responsible for this proposal have strong intentions and wish the best for the community, however it is important for there to be discussion and input from stakeholders such as community members, 3rd party developers, whitelabel-hosts, validators, and application users. Therefore, the issuer of proposal 10 as well as the community are requested to undertake the same initiative of structuring an inflation decrease in a more thorough process of discussion with the intention of amending the inflation schedule on the exact halving date of the 27th of September.

This working integration is Sentinel's first working dVPN implementation that is compatible with desktop devices. Desktop Clients - The Solar Labs dVPN desktop clients will be soon available for testing and the previews will be shared in the coming days. The Math Nodes desktop application is also near completion and has multiple new features and functions that have been added since the last update. You can watch the latest update video posted in the public group. Network Tokeneconomics Update - High inflation economic theory in chains based on Cosmos is now largely changing from the events of the past months and Sentinel will be one of the forerunners of the economic change and will be making inflationary reductions. More information will be shared on this before the end of the month. Network Architecture Update - Currently the Sentinel dVPN network built on Cosmos uses Wireguard, however wireguard does not have a sophisticated relay architecture within the protocol itself. Several other superior networking protocols are being researched now which have sophisticated in-built relay networks that would realistically take the dVPN ecosystem a lengthy time to develop in-house. Integration of relay networks is of paramount importance both for the security of the future hardware bandwidth miners as well as for a user's anonymity from their desired exit node. In the month of August most likely there will be an update on the finalized networking architecture going forward, and there may be a process of node host and client application migration. However right now the focus is to continue increasing the number of active nodes, users, as well as applications built on the Sentinel dVPN stack. dVPN Node Incentivization - There have been several participants who have attempted to game the incentive system as the criteria for reward was not robust enough to prevent the abuse, so the system is being re-designed and will be announced soon.

The MathNodes team (involving @freQniKs and others) is building and will soon launch a desktop #dVPN application for Linux and Mac OS X devices. This desktop application runs on Sentinel's Hub and utilizes its community-hosted node pool. The UI/UX and design is currently a work-in-progress and there will be continuous process of iteration as dVPNs built on Sentinel continuously upgrade over-time in order to have a similar aesthetic and user experience quality to that of centralized VPN applications. Community hosted #dVPN exit-nodes on Sentinel have crossed 2000 for the first time since the network's inception in 2018. stats.sentinel.co Whether bull or bear, the utility of the $dVPN network has only increased since 2018. From 2018 to 2021 Sentinel's dVPN on ETH reached 500k + downloads. From 2021 to current times, Sentinel's dVPN network on Cosmos has been growing exponentially in every metric whether it is the # of daily user sessions, or bandwidth consumed in a 24hr period. The performance of Sentinel's dVPN network on Cosmos is much more impressive as compared to its performance on ETH as Sentinel's Cosmos based dVPN network is a paid service while the ETH based network was completely free and was more of a 'proof of concept'. Sentinel's launch on Cosmos allows for users to make microtransactions for bandwidth purchases as compared to ETH's inefficient gas system.
